Student theatre: 'Spex' Humour and ingenuity are combined to produce a so-called 'spex'; a farcical comedy/musicals based on historical events that is written, produced and performed by students. Spex dates back to 1886 and is one of Lund's more eccentric traditions.

Lunds Studentteater bildades ursprungligen 1933 som teaterverksamhet knuten till Lunds universitet, verkade under 1950-talet under namnet Lilla teatern men återgick delvis under 1960-talet till studentteater-namnet, och har med åren lett till en del avknoppningar i andra separata fria teatergrupper såsom Ulf Grans Teater Proteus, Teater 23 i Malmö och Nationalteatern i Göteborg (se mer The culture in Lund is characterised by the university education and research, and the large student population and student traditions, such as a student theatre group since 1886. 1959 flyttade Lilla teatern till Sandgatan 14 och upplevde där en glansperiod. För att blidka brandkåren var man tvungen att endast spela för sina egna medlemmar. Lilla teatern tog därvid upp sin koppling till studenterna och återupplivade namnet Lunds studentteater. Så springer studenterna ut i Lund 2019 – här är dagarna för Vipan, Polhem, Katte och Spyken. I år blir det ingen traditionell utsparksvecka för nybakade Lundastudenter.

Membership of Studentlund gives you access to everything from cheap accommodation to good food, fun nightclubs, interesting talks, exciting media, guaranteed monitoring of education, entertaining theatre, considerable student influence within the University, municipality and region, and lots of grants and student discounts. Lund University has a wide range of student associations. They are run by students, for students and they revolve around music, drama, "spex" student theatre, politics, religion and much more. The associations often have information evenings and kick-off meetings at the start of the autumn and spring semesters. Among some of the popular courses at Lund University are humanities, economics, music, arts, medicine, theatre, sciences, and social sciences.
